On Saturday 30th August a few of us are heading over to attempt to ride
the Arnside Bore, if any one is interested we'll meet you there (let me
know your coming, so we can watch out for you and possibly arrange
shared lifts)
The Arnside Bore is a mini tidal wave that only occurs in certain
estuary's around the country, these waves vary from pathetic to
occasionally great, the trouble with occasionally great, is they tend
not to happen on a weekend. On the weekend of the 30th and 31st August
the conditions will be right and we're planning to be there.
Here's some links to have a shufty at

Now the sales bits over, here's the specifics.
On 30th August the Bore is expected to arrive around 9.35, its suggested
that we are on the water about 60 to 90 minutes earlier so between 8am
and 8.30am (On the Sunday, this should repeat but 20 minutes later)
The 60-90 minutes seems to be the time needed to paddle up stream, so
the earlier the better the trip.
Arnside, is about 5 to 10 miles from the Junction of the M6 with the
A65, just past Kirby Lonsdale.
As this is an early start, it'll probably be an early finish, which will
leave an opportunity to go and do some thing else, afterwards.
This trip won't be suitable for beginners.
Regards
Martin Thornton
