Hi All,

This Sunday (24th August)  

Intermediate trip - Washburn - run by Lower Wharfe Canoe Club 9.00 -
5.00. Fast dam release river - Grade 3. 

I've just rung the Washburn help line and the release is currently still
on - though this may change as the reservoirs must be pretty full and
Yorkshire Water may cancel the release at short notice.  If you need kit
or directions meet at clubhouse for 9.00 a.m. If you are going straight
there - I suggest you ring the Washburn line beforehand 0845 833 8654.
Norman will tell you if it's running J

Coming up:

 

13th September - weekend trip to the infamous Liffey Descent in Ireland.

 

27th September - LCC organizes the WildWater Race at the Washburn -
volunteers required.

 

17th - 19th October. Introduction to White Water weekend - staying at
the Goat Inn nr Llangollen.  Sign up soon to ensure that Kiwi Steve gets
to sleep in a nice cold tent in the beer garden! Further details from
Martin [martin at mntdesign.co.uk].

Regular Tuesday evening sessions on the River Aire at Kirkstall . At the
clubhouse prompt for 6.00 p.m. aiming to be on the water for 6.30 until
it gets dark about 8.00ish. Pub visit after :-)

Regular Thursday evening river coaching sessions on the River Aire at
Kirkstall. Training towards BCU Star qualifications. On the water for
6.30. Contact Martin Thornton  [martin at mntdesign.co.uk] if you intend to
go. 

Please note - the tree is still in the river below the weir. It has been
trimmed significantly (thanks to Eddie et al.), but still presents a
hazard. Coaches - please make sure all beginners are made aware of the
pinning potential and are supervised carefully.

 [n.b. pool sessions still running on Thursdays as usual.]
