Hi All,
This weekend:
9th - 12th April Advanced weekend to Scotland.
n.b. as several of the regular pool coaches will be away, any additional
coaching assistance at the pool tonight will be appreciated
Coming up:
Thursday 16th April - Leeds Canoe Club AGM. After the Thursday
pool session, in the back room of the leisure centre bar.
If anyone feels like standing for the committee for next season, have a
chat with me or any other cmttee member and we'll let you know what is
involved. Potentially you can put yourself forward for any post -
present post holders will not be offended (most of us are only there
because we once foolishly said 'Well, if no-one else is going to do
it....' ). If more than one person stands we can have an election J
Vacant positions: Social Sec, Pool Officer, Junior Rep
Likewise if you have any serious issues you think should be discussed
at the AGM, let me know and I'll add them to the agenda.
Tuesday 21st April & Thursday 23rd April Evening river sessions
on the Aire at Kirkstall resume.
Sunday 26th April Next beginner's trip - destination to be decided on
the day.
Sunday 10th May Family Fun Day at White Rose Canoe Club/Roundhay Park.
10.00a.m. - 4.00 p.m. Have a go at bell boating, sprint, slalom, polo
and more. Contact gareth at bcu.org.uk for more details.
----------------
Pool sessions on Thursdays
Only people with bands are allowed to paddle. We are limited to the
number of boats we can have in the pool (a stipulation by the leisure
centre), so if you come late you probably won't get a boat. Please check
with me or the lifeguard BEFORE you get changed to see if there is any
space available. If there isn't space, you can try to persuade a mate
who has a band to share their boat, but the negotiations are down to
you.
If you bring your own boat it must be CLEAN (inside as well as out - no
mud, sand, dead leaves etc.), and have padding front and back. Secure
padding please - not half-hearted bits of sticky tape that come off as
soon as the boat hits the water!
We've been asked by the swimming team who are in the pool before us that
we don't go out on the pool side until they are finished. Please stay
in the changing rooms until they start to pack up.
Also - if you want to join in with the public swim after our pool
session - you need to pay in advance at reception.
Cheers,
Steve
