Fantastic new RNLI fundraising events for 2009!

2009 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for RNLI events in the North. Not only can you join our biggest ever Great North Run team, be one of the only people to abseil down the Liver Buildings, bungee jump over Whitby Harbour or take the challenge of a lifetime and skydive with the Red Devils, but you also have the chance to take part in one of two fantastic new events for 2009!
Taking adventure sports right into the streets, waterways and urban jungle of the World's coolest cities, the Rat Raceis an adventure event in which teams of three and pairs race in a multi-disciplined challenge of navigation, endurance, skills and guts. You will run, climb, mountain bike, kayak, abseil and navigate their way around a course that's only revealed hours before you begin.
Events take place across the country over the summer, including Sheffield on 25 & 26 July and Newcastle on 29 & 30 August. The RNLI have guaranteed places at these events; all you have to do to secure your places is pledge to raise a minimum of £250 per team member, which includes your event entry, RNLI tshirt and full fundraising support.
The Great North Swimis a one-mile mass participation open water swim on Lake Windermere. It is the only event of its kind in the UK; at the front of the race are some of the best swimmers in the world (including our Olympic medallists) with the mass participation field following shortly afterwards. The event takes place at the heart of the beautiful Lake District and provides a real challenge to expert swimmers and amateurs alike.

The RNLI has guaranteed places at this sell-out event; we are asking all of our guaranteed place swimmers to pay a registration fee of £30, and to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship. If you have managed to secure your own place in the event you can still swim and fundraise for us and receive our full support.

If you feel like tackling something new in 2009, why not sign up for the Rat Race or the Great North Swim? Both events are likely to be heavily oversubscribed so get in touch today to secure your place!

Best regards,

Lisa
