Hi All,
Sunday (22nd March)
Beginner's trip - meet at clubhouse at 9.00 a.m. We'll decide the destination on the day.
If you have not been before, the clubhouse is in the grounds of the Rugby Academy, next to Morrisson's supermarket. Park in the Rugby Academy carpark.

Ideally you should have a wetsuit, but you can probably get by, now the weather is warming up a bit, with some old clothes/trainers you don't mind getting wet. A nylon cagoule, running top or similar is advisable over the top to keep the wind off. And bring some food/drink you can carry in the boat.
Coming up:
April 4th - 5th Yorkshire Paddlesport Weekend 2009
Following on from the success of the 2008 Paddlesport weekend, the Regional Coaching Committee are happy to announce, with the support of Aldwark Scout Activity Centre, the 2009 dates - April 4th & 5th! This, like the previous weekends, promises to be a great weekend for both coaches and paddlers alike. The weekend is offering a vast range of courses and paddling opportunities; first aid, paddlesport skill training, sea kayaking (on the river), open canoe touring, specialist open canoe and a coach update forum. http://www.yorcie.org.uk/
9th - 12th April Advanced weekend to Scotland.
By popular demand the annual advanced trip to Scotland (near Fort William) has been booked again for the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend. We will be staying in the same bunkhouse as last year. The four nights booked at the bunkhouse are 9/10/11/12 ( Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun night) April 09 . The cost is £12 per person per night ( total £48 ). Let Paul Crouch know if you want a space. Thursday 16th April - Leeds Canoe Club AGM. After the Thursday pool session, in the back room of the leisure centre bar.
If anyone feels like standing for the committee for next season, have a chat with me or any other cmttee member and we'll let you know what is involved. Potentially you can put yourself forward for any post - present post holders will not be offended (most of us are only there because we once foolishly said 'Well, if no-one else is going to do it....' ). If more than one person stands we can have an election J
Likewise if you have any serious issues you think should be discussed at the AGM, let me know and I'll add them to the agenda.
Tuesday 21st April & Thursday 23rd April Evening river sessions on the Aire at Kirkstall resume.
----------------
Pool sessions on Thursdays
Only people with bands are allowed to paddle. We are limited to the number of boats we can have in the pool (a stipulation by the leisure centre), so if you come late you probably won't get a boat. Please check with me or the lifeguard BEFORE you get changed to see if there is any space available. If there isn't space, you can try to persuade a mate who has a band to share their boat, but the negotiations are down to you.
If you bring your own boat it must be CLEAN (inside as well as out - no mud, sand, dead leaves etc.), and have padding front and back.
We've been asked by the swimming team who are in the pool before us that we don't go out on the pool side until they are finished. Please stay in the changing rooms until they start to pack up.
Also - if you want to join in with the public swim after our pool session - you need to pay in advance at reception.
Cheers,
Steve
