Those of you who began your one star assessments on the  30th April

 

First of apologies for not getting to the river session on time,  I hope
that you all had managed to get some alternative paddling experiences in
my absence.

 

On the 30th April, we covered the personal paddling skills section of
the assessment, which most of you were way above the required standards.

 

On the 14th , Next Thursday, I would like to complete the assessment, by
covering the three other sections of the award. 

Rescue skills, Theory and  Safety, leadership & group skills.  None of
this will be a problem for any of you. If you wish to some prior
reading, have a look at the one star syllabus on the website. (Don't
panic about the capsize drill, you won't be made to do them in the river
Aire, if you don't want to)

 

In order to give you an award, you need to have evidence of one journey
of about 1 hour (3km) duration, this weekend is a beginners trip, get
yourself on it, so we can tick the appropriate box. This Sunday's trip
is to Sleningford near Ripon, bring a packed lunch and a roof rack, if
you have one.
