White Water Safety and Rescue Course
Halifax Canoe Club have 2 places left on the course - if you are interested contact Cliff Speight on ( 07917 022366 or email john at elvidge.co.uk)
For the last few years we have organised these courses for its HXCC members at the Trywery. Due to cancellations we have two spaces available to non members. The course covers swimming, safety and rescue techniques (boat, bank and swimming rescues) on and in grade 2/3 water, so it is a very valuable course for anyone who paddles on white water. In fact it is a great opportunity to get the best fun on moving water out of a boat - and some would say the best fun in moving water, full stop!
Therefore you need to be happy to paddle grade 2 water (and to swim in it!) and be prepared to be wet (but dry suits are provided). Also there is a minimum age of 16. It is thoroughly enjoyable and those who have done the course before have gained a lot from it.
the course is organised for 13th & 14th June. The cost of the course is £95, this covers the two day course and the use of dry suits (so you too can look like a banana!)
This is a good saving on what you would pay if you booked the course individually with the Tryweryn. You'll also need somewhere to stay for the weekend. There is a campsite a few minutes away, and some of us will probably be booking a nearby bunkhouse.
