Hi All,
POOL SESSIONS
Last week's session was very busy and chaotic - we need to be more organised. There were far too many people bringing boats in through the fire exit and milling about the poolside in their socks. Not fair on the swim team who are in before us. We only need a couple of volunteers on the outside to hand boats in and one to stack them on the inside. If you are bringing your own boats, dump them on the outside by the fire door (the handlers will keep an eye on them) and then go round the building to enter the changing rooms by the front entrance. Boats should be neatly stacked inside away from exits doorways etc. where they won't get in anyone's way. Once changed please stay by the seating area until the swim team has finished, the pool staff have adjusted the depth and I've counted the boats and got the beginners organized. If you need to sort out padding do it in our session not the swim teams. And finally - BOATS MUST BE CLEAN - there was all sorts of dead leaves and other debris last week!
If sessions continue to be busy we may have to think about some sort of booking system, but we'll leave it a few weeks to see if things settle down.
This weekend:
Sunday 22nd November Intermediate trip. Meet at clubhouse in Kirkstall at 8.00 a.m. prompt (we want to miss the Abbey Dash). Destination to be decided on day
Coming up:
Saturday 5th December LCC Christmas Party. Farnley Sports and Social Club. 7.00 p.m. - Late. Food/bar. Free entrance. A note about nominations - the Pool Trainer award will be broadened to River/Pool Trainer - so you can also nominate those hardy souls who brave the elements on summer evenings to deliver paddling wisdom whilst the rest of us are basking in the luxury of a heated pool J
29th -31st January 2010. Lakes Weekend. As usual, we're staying at Ambleside Youth Hostel on the Friday and Saturday night. It costs £21.00 per person per night B&B for a dorm bed. There are 2 double rooms and 3 twin rooms available, these will cost £23 per person per night, including breakfast, on a first come first served basis. The paddling will be suitable for intermediates and better beginners (who have done a few evening sessions/river trips) but everyone is welcome to join us for the evenings and families can come too.
If you would like to come or have any questions please email Hannah at hannahlmfox at hotmail.com and send a cheque for £42/£46 to 14 Chestnut Avenue, Cross Gates, Leeds LS15 8ED (payable to Leeds Canoe Club).
1st - 4th April 2010 Advanced weekend - Scotland. Pitlochry/Inverness. Contact Paul Crouch [P.R.Crouch at leeds.ac.uk]
Cheers,
Steve
