[LCC-Club] Leeds Canoe Club Weekly Update 01/010/2009

Hi All,

Wednesday pool sessions are unfortunately cancelled until further notice.  Kippax Leisure Centre have been forced to close the pool to the public following the discovery of structural defects in the roof. 

This weekend:

Saturday 3rd October    Workday at clubhouse. Annual clubhouse repainting/repairs/kit inventory etc. Any volunteers appreciated, 9.00 a.m. onwards.

Sunday 4th October    Intermediate trip.   Surf forecast is looking promising at the moment so I'm thinking kayak surfing at Scarborough - will also be suitable for confident beginners who have done a few evening river sessions (but you need a wetsuit as swims are almost guaranteed). Meet at clubhouse for 9.00 a.m.

n.b. Washburn is also running on Sunday 9.00 - 5.00

Coming up:

9th - 11th October  Intermediate social and paddling weekend staying at the well-loved Goat Inn, nr Llangollen.  Places are already going fast so contact Martin asap if interested. martin at mnt.design

Tuesday 3rd November    LCC Bonfire Night.  Bonfire, fireworks and Pie'n'Peas at clubhouse. 

13th-15th November. Advanced trip to North Wales. Bunkhouse accommodation at a bargain £5 per night (Friday/Saturday). Contact Paul Crouch to book a place. P.R.Crouch at leeds.ac.uk

29th -31st January 2010.   Lakes Weekend. As usual, we're staying at Ambleside Youth Hostel on the Friday and Saturday night. It costs £21.00 per person per night B&B for a dorm bed.  There are 2 double rooms and 3 twin rooms available, these will cost £23 per person per night, including breakfast, on a first come first served basis.  The paddling will be suitable for intermediates and better beginners (who have done a few evening sessions/river trips) but everyone is welcome to join us for the evenings and families can come too.
