PLEASE FORWARD THIS INFORMATION ON TO FELLOW PADDLERS SO THEY DON’T MISS OUT ON THESE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES!

Behind the scenes the coaching team have been working hard to bring you the second half of our winter programme with prices as little as £60 per person for a weekend of high class tuition from some of the top coaches across the country coming to Yorkshire.

BCU 4 Star Assessments; we are planning a number of 4 star assessments (kayak) at a price of £85 per person (typical saving of over £50 to £80 per person due to subsidies from the Regional Coaching fund). The first of these dates is February 27/28th 2010 - 4 Star White Water leader Assessment. Closing date February 4th, 2010.

Skills Weekend – March 13th/14th 2010; building on the success of Team North’s weekend for coaches, here is Yorkshire’s variation, a Skills Weekend for all being delivered by a team of aspirant level 5 and level 5 coaches from across the country such as Claire O’Hara (World Freestyle Champion), Tom Parker (Level 5 Kayak/Specialist in White Water), Fergus Lynch (Level 5 Kayak & Surf), Kim Bull (Level 5 Open Canoe), to name but a few. The weekend has been heavily subsidised by the Yorkshire Regional fund to bring you a FULLY residential weekend based at Aldwark Scout Activity Centre for only £60 per person!

Paddlesport Weekend – March 27th/28th 2010; what can I say? We seem to go from strength to strength with our annual paddlesport weekend and 2010 is no different. A FULLY residential weekend for only £60 and access to a vast range of skills course, coach re-validation, assessments and must more! If you’ve not been before then you don’t know what you’re missing.

Local Coaching Panel meeting coming to your area! What is a Local Coaching Panel? This is a forum for both paddlesport and aspirant paddlesport coaches to discuss local coaching needs and developments.  A place where clubs/ organisations can find support and where local views can be discussed and as appropriate passed on to the Canoe England Coaching Committee.  The Panels are chaired by the RCO for the region.  Panels are a good place for individual coaches to share ideas and to get support from other coaches for their own development.

The agenda for the meeting will cover an update on the UKCC status, regional structure of the coaching team, update about the regions website (www.yorcie.org.uk/coaching), subsidised paddlesport courses, future events which will benefit paddlers including a commitment and offer of free training! So we’ve lots to cover.

Old Level 2/3 Trainee’s; are you in need of an assessment before the end of this year? If so, drop me an email (rco.yorkshire at bcu.org.uk <mailto:rco.yorkshire at bcu.org.uk?subject=Old%20Level%202%2F3%20Assessments> ) with your details (e.g. name, mobile, email and discipline wishing to be assessed in)!

CRB checks; if you are in need for someone to sign to say ‘you are who you say you are’ based upon the approved identity documents (http://www.crb.gov.uk/PDF/CRB11 Guidance Notes.pdf <http://www.crb.gov.uk/PDF/CRB11%20Guidance%20Notes.pdf> ) then bring along your form and documents to these meetings as Canoe England have authorised the regional coaching team to sign these documents.
