Subject: Dolphin Centre Novice Slalom

 Hey
 
We have an event that may interest you on 27 February 2010.
 
If your club is interested in slalom, or if you just fancy something different, we are hosting a novice slalom at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington.  This is the first time a swimming pool slalom has been part of the national ranking system, but this doesn't mean that it will be too serious!
 
We thought that the beginning of the season is the best part of the year to get started, but it's a bit cold for our novices to start going outdoors with their cheap, basic kit as it's just too cold.  We thought we'd remedy this by starting the season with a nice indoor event.  Our club has had a large number of young paddlers who started canoeing 4 weeks ago, so none of your members will be too new to give it a go. 
 
We also have a couple of paddle machines at the event and will be hosting an indoor challenge with head to head racing on the ergo machines and prizes for winners!  So with paddle machines you don't need any experience at all, so lets get the parents involved!  If they don't fancy that, there's a bar literally metres away from the poolside!
 
You don't have to have any specific slalom equipment, but we will have some salom boats, along with some canadian canoes (C1 adn C2) for people to try if they would like a go in a slalom boat, but we are execting quite a number of plastic boaters.  Why not link it in with a club event on the tees.  Barnard Castle is just 30 minutes from Darlington and perfect for a morning splash around before heading over to the pool to warm yourself up!
 
We are planning on starting the event at around 5pm,with first runs taking place from 7pm, but entries will be taken in advance so that you can avoid disappointment.  We are limited on time, but hope that we don't have to turn anyone away!  We have already started receiving entries, so we are expecting a good turnout!
