Subject: Purchase of Land and Fishing rights River Ure.

Dear Yorkshire Club,
    A very exciting and
history breaking opportunity has come our way. After years of being told by
fishermen & riparian owners that if we wanted access then we should do what
they did and by some, we have.
Well we nearly have.
But we need your help.
Please let me know if you are able to
join this historic major step forward in Yorkshire canoeing.
Thank you.
Dick Constable

Subject: Purchase
of Land and Fishing rights River Ure.

Dear
all,

WILL YOU PLEASE KEEP
THIS INFORMATION WITHIN THE CANOEING CIRCLE.

I am pleased to give
you the news that Last night myself and Ken Harrap successfully bid on behalf of
the Yorkshire RDT for an extremely strategic patch of land with fishing rights
on the Ure at Ripon.

The land is just over
2 acres, with a 120 yard frontage with fishing rights.
It is located to the
East of the Old Bridge and between the old bridge and the new bypass bridge on
the South Bank.
It is ideal for
occasional camping, parking and ingress/egress canoe launching/recovery onto the
URE.
The land is subject
to flooding and shortly the Environment Agency will be undertaking flood
prevention work on the land.
Ripon Piscatorial,
who are known to be an anti canoeing angling club have the angling up till March
15th. 2010.
There could be a
small income off the land from its use as a paddock, a letting of the fishing,
and donations/charges for canoe camping and parking.

We have paid £17,500
which with legal charges will become £18,000 and there could be a small
additional amount needed for signage, insurance
A 10% deposit was
been paid to the solicitors at the Auction but the balance of the money must be
paid
on FEBRUARY
8th.

I have paid the
deposit and at present the deal is in my name and Ken and I are both prepared to
contribute to the cost.

THIS IS A VERY URGENT
APPEAL FOR MONEY NOW.

I suggest that we
split the fund raising into GRANTS, DONATIONS and LOANS.

Robert can you as
chair of the YRDT call a meeting ASAP to further discuss
this.

Just a few ideas:-

Can all the YRDT
committee’s look at their finances with a view to
contributing.
Can those private
individuals who are willing to donate please indicate whether their money will
be a loan to the region or if a donation from a Tax paying individual then these
donations could be made to the CANOE FOUNDATION which in turn can claim the Tax
back, effectively a £1,000 donation will become £1,220.00.
Any other
ideas?

But we must build the
cash up to £18k by February the 8th. So this appeal is mega
Urgent.

Cheers
all,

Chris.
