is the first level course for people wishing to become a paddlesports coach.
The course covers all elements of the syllabus. Including the foundation safety
and rescue test. Students on the course will leave able to operate under direct
supervision or under remote supervision depending on experience and aptitude.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><span
class=eccourse-body>Students should have the 2 star award (old 2 star kayak AND
2 star canoe acceptable). Student MUST register with the BCU and complete parts
of the coach level 1 workbook that they will receive prior to the course.
following the course a personalised action plan will be designed and
administration forwarded to the BCU who will issue licences following a
successful CRB check. </span><br>

class=eccourse-body>You will need to hold the new 2 star personal performance
award or both old 2 star canoe and kayak tests. A valid first aid certificate
is not required but is highly recommended.</span><br>

<span class=eccourse-body>PLEASE ENSURE you contact the British Canoe Union (<a
href="http://www.bcu.org.uk">www.bcu.org.uk</a>) and complete any pre course
administration and paperwork prior to attending the course, and bring all
paperwork with you.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p>Location: Aldwark Scout Activity Centre, Near Boroughbridge<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Cost; £250 per person + BCU registration fees (60% refund/funding from the
Yorkshire coaching bursary - see http://www.yandh-coachingbursary.co.uk/ also
funding available from the Scout Association should mean a free course) -
£75 with booking form to secure your place!<o:p></o:p></p>

<p>I would recommend booking early as the course is already starting to fill
and get your bursary sorted out too (there is only 1250 bursary pots covering
